Review of combine harvester losses for maize and influencing factors

The high harvest losses associated with the mechanical harvesting of maize in China are currently a major barrier to adoption this technology. This paper summarizes works literature regarding from combine and abroad. main findings as follows: (1) In 2012-2019, 2987 samples data obtained production areas showed that average loss was 345.2 kg/hm2 (3.5% yield), ranging 0 9288.5 kg/hm2; (2) mainly caused by dropping ears. ear include pre-harvest abscission, damage borer, lodging, during harvesting, is lodging; (3) Harvest affected variety, planting mode, cultivation management, pests diseases, weather conditions date, harvester type, adjustment, operator proficiency, terrain field; (4) also related type header, feeding threshing methods, adjustment header stripping clearance, amount, forward speed, cylinder or rotor clearance between concave harvester. However, come losses. order reduce losses, following solutions were proposed: Breed select varieties which resistant especially field drying mature grains, well those borer stalk rot; Select suitable for grain harvest—which requires matching accumulated-temperature demand hybrids, optimal plant density, row spacing, irrigation fertilizer management light heat area while cultivating uniform populations healthy plants—as preventing controlling rot, at appropriate time; Develop advanced harvesters, formulate standardized operating procedures machinery, standardize operation; agricultural machinery agronomic practices, improve training producers operators.
